Hi! 👋I’m Nick!

Who am I?

To one, I’m Husband. To two, I’m Dad. To everyone else, I’m an educator, maker, and gamer.

The best thing about those roles is that they intersect on the regular.

What do I do?

During the day, I am the Director of Peer-to-Peer Professional Learning at Digital Promise, a global non-profit shaping the future of learning and advancing equitable education systems. On a daily basis, I get to connect with innovative educators, researchers, and industry partners to rethink what education can and should be, particularly for our most historically and systematically excluded learners. I get to partner with amazing organizations like HP, Microsoft, Intel, The Grable Foundation, Remake Learning, Infosys Foundation USA. In the past I have also worked with Meta, Ciena, Nation of Makers, and countless others.

All the time, I am an advocate and architect of playful living and learning. Fred Roger’s once said “Play is often talked about as if it was a relief from serious learning, but for children, play is serious learning play is really the work of childhood.” I’d like to take that a step further in that play is really the work of life itself.

What is my “Why?”

As a father and former elementary school educator and central office leader for Baltimore County Public Schools, I have seen firsthand the value of play for both children and adults.

I want my kids to grow up in a world where play doesn’t have to end when it’s time to “grow up.”

These beliefs, as well as my advocacy and work in this space has led me to partnering with incredible people and organizations, including serving as the Chief Learning Officer for the Coalition of Parents in Esports (COPE) and writing curriculum for Games for Change.

I hope I get the opportunity to meet and work with you soon!
